Tiffany necklace from a firefighter in a tux

The title pretty much sums up the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco. What a great race -- I'd put it at the top of everyone's (at least my women friends) "must run" list of races. While I wish that I had done the full marathon, an injury sidelined my training so the half marathon was my goal. Thankfully, my running partners Cindy and Kristie, also had nagging injuries so we all were in the same running condition.
The race conditions were perfect -- mild temps (for San Fran, that is), no rain, slight breeze, and several really long hills. We ran along the coastline, past Fishermans Wharf, sea lion island, and many other sites that gave us breathtaking views of the ocean. Well organized, the race led us through neighborhoods and Golden Gate Park, where we were greeted with Chocolate Mile. Shortly after that, we saw the finish line, where we eagerly looked for the firefighters.
Yes, ladies, firefighters in tuxes are at the end of the race to present you with a Tiffany necklace. We didn't care about our time. We just wanted the Tiffany necklace.
It's kinda like the Sunmart blanket. There are some things that you will run miles and miles for, just to finish. Thankfully, I have great friends who are like me and are less motivated by race times, but really look forward to the swag at the end.
